Meet the New Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro

Govee has added another option to its permanent outdoor lighting lineup: the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro, officially released in September 2026.

The new model builds on the flexibility of the original Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro while introducing a major new feature: dual-layer illumination from each light.

For homeowners considering permanent lighting and installers helping customers decide which Govee system is right for their home, here’s what’s new:

The Big Upgrade: Two Layers of Light

The standout feature of the Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro is Govee’s new dual-layer lighting design.

Each light can produce independently controlled upper and lower lighting zones. That means a single light can display two different colors or lighting effects at the same time.

Instead of simply creating the familiar cone of color down the side of a home, the 2 Pro can create more dimensional effects, gradients and architectural lighting.

For example, you could use one layer for a warm everyday glow while adding a different color or effect to another portion of the light.

Govee calls the technology its ColorZone Solution.

A Much Wider Range of White Light

Permanent lighting isn’t just about Christmas, Halloween or game day anymore.

One particularly interesting feature of the 2 Pro is its 1,000K–10,000K white color-temperature range.

That provides everything from an extremely warm ambient glow to a crisp, cool white, making the lights useful as year-round architectural and accent lighting—not simply holiday lights.

Cut, Extend and Customize the Installation

For installers, one of the most important features is that the Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro are cuttable and extendable.

That makes it possible to adapt the system to rooflines rather than simply working around fixed strand lengths.

Govee has also introduced an independently controlled Y connector. After a run branches, the two sides can display completely different lighting effects.

That’s especially useful on homes with complicated rooflines, multiple peaks or areas where a single continuous run isn’t practical.

Built for Permanent Outdoor Installation

Govee has increased the weather protection as well.

The light strings and Y connector carry an IP68 waterproof rating, while the control box and power adapter are rated IP67. The system is designed for permanent, year-round outdoor use.

AI Lighting Bot 2.0

The hardware isn’t the only thing that’s changed.

Govee’s AI Lighting Bot 2.0 lets users describe the lighting effect they want and generates effects for the two lighting layers. The system also includes Govee’s LuminBlend+ color-management technology for smoother gradients and color transitions.

There are also 100 preset scenes, Music Sync and DreamView.

Smart Home Compatibility

The Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro support Matter and work with Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing the lights to become part of a broader smart-home setup.

Available in 100 ft. and 200 ft. Kits

At launch, Govee lists two primary sizes:

100 ft. — $499.99 MSRP
200 ft. — $799.99 MSRP

The 200-foot version is offered in white or black, while Govee currently lists the 100-foot option in white. Pricing and promotions can change, so check current pricing before purchasing.

Where Does the 2 Pro Fit in the Govee Lineup?

Govee now has several permanent outdoor lighting systems, so the names can get confusing.

The Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro should not be confused with the Permanent Outdoor Lights 2. The standard Lights 2 are a lower-priced system and are not cuttable, while the new 2 Pro is designed as a more customizable installation system.

There’s also the Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro and the newer Prism, so homeowners now have several choices depending on budget, desired effects, roofline and installation requirements.

We’ll be taking a closer look at how the 2 Pro, original Pro and Prism compare in a separate guide.

Should You Install Them Yourself or Hire an Installer?

Govee markets its permanent outdoor lights as a DIY product, and many homeowners install them successfully themselves.

But “permanent” is the important word.

Installation can involve ladders, high peaks, complicated rooflines, cutting and reconnecting runs, routing extensions, locating power and determining the best distance from the wall to achieve the desired lighting effect.

A professional installer can also help determine which Govee model and kit length makes the most sense before you purchase your lights.
